A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 to officially open the newly-improved O’Bannon Creek Nature Trail behind Goshen High School. The Clermont County General Health District, in collaboration with the Goshen Local School District, received a $25,000 grant to improve the trail near Goshen High School and to make a portion of the trail handicapped accessible. The pathway has been widened and is being paved with crushed gravel, making the trail handicapped accessible with assistance.
The O’Bannon Creek Nature Trail is open to the community for various types of physical activity; Goshen Local Schools will also utilize it as an outdoor learning environment. Goshen Local Schools are excited about the opportunities the trail provides for students. The trail habitat and creek will enable students to experience science in a hands-on manner.
A special thank you to David Brown, GHS science teacher and Officer James Taylor, Goshen police officer/ school resource officer for all their efforts in making this project a reality.
