    Pro-Ohio & OAA Preparation:
While music is not a tested area on the Ohio Achievement Assessment, our entire staff believes that a strong team effort is the best way to achieve greatest success. If you would like to help us meet our goal of continuous improvement for all students, we encourage you to visit this link for Pro-Ohio. The site provides various tools which parents can utilize to contribute to their children's growth.

    Course Goals:
In both 6th grade general music and 8th grade general music, the course goals are the same.
1.) To ensure musical growth through performance and study various types of music.
2.) To build student repertoire of several musical selections.
3.) To provide daily reinforcement of basic musical pedagogy.
Of course, 8th grade students are expected, and will be held accountable for, a greater understanding and more in-depth study of general music.

    Course Activities:
In 8th grade music, students will complete a comprehensive study of "Music Through the Decades" with the routine use of K-W-L charts, and written response pieces regarding musical selections, video presentations, and historical connections of relevance.

6th grade music students will study units including rhythm projects, a study on musicals, and broadway represenations of various musical styles. Students can expect such projets as creating their own instrument, writing and performing their own musical, and various written pieces concerning composers and musical presentations.

I'm looking forward to working with your students. It will be a very fun and exciting year.
