    Reading:

    *This week we will read A fox and a Kit

    *Take home decodable readers: Will We Wn? and Jan and Pam

    *We will review Short o words and Plurals -s. We will practice –ing endings

    *Spelling Words: nap, naps, sit, sits, win, wins, fit, fits, hit, hits,her, & too

    *High-Frequency Words: her, too, eat, & her

    *Reading Skill: main idea

    Writing:

    *Students will continue to practice writing in complete sentences while writing in their journals.

    *Students will practice finding action parts of sentences.

    *Students will be writing about ways we help our families.

    *Students will practice writing captions for pictures.

    Math:

    *Students will practice working in small groups.

    *Students will explore math materials.

    *Students will be discussing weather and temperature routines.

    *Students will practice solving number stories.

    Science/Social Studies:

    *We will discuss transportation

    *We will discuss “then & now”

    *We will classify animals

    Mrs. Volpenhein’s First Grade News 9/6-9/9
    Reading:
    *This week we will read Pig in a Wig
    *Take home decodable readers: Hit It! and Fix It
    *We will practice Short i words and Final -x words.
    *Reading groups will begin during center time.
    Words and Skills:
    *Spelling Words: in, it, did, sit, six, fix, lip, mix, pin, wig, and, & take
    **Spelling Test will be on Friday’s**
    *High-Frequency Words: and, take, & up
    *Reading Skill: Realism/Fantasy
    Writing:
    *Students will continue to practice writing in complete sentences while writing in their journals.
    *Students will also practice naming parts of sentences.
    *Students will also be writing about ways we help animals
    Math:
    *Students will practice writing numbers.
    *Students will practice finding numbers that are one more or one less than a given number.
    *Students will be comparing and ordering numbers. We will also practice tally counts.
    Science/Social Studies:
    *We will discuss caring and helping animals
    *We will discuss careers
