    Dear Families,

Welcome to your child's second grade year! My name is Leta Whitley. I graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a B.A. in education. I received my Masters of Education from Nova Southeastern in 2002. This will be my twelfth year of teaching in Goshen. Previously, I have taught first and third grades. I think being a teacher is the best "job" in a world! I get to meet and love new kids every year.

I am married to a graphic artist, Doug, and we have 3 children. Brooke is in her third year at Northern Kentucky University and majoring in special education. Corinne is attending Northern Kentucky University as a freshman majoring in nursing. Zachary is a freshman at Goshen High School. Not only do I enjoy watching my children play sports, but I love to read and walk.

Goals for our classroom include performing at continuously higher levels of learning, helping your child become a life-long learner, and challenging them to become responsible and positive members of our classroom. As we work toward these goals, I will provide a safe and caring environment that involves mutual respect of teachers, parents, and students.

Our Second Grade Handbook is located in your child's Important Stuff folder and contains what you need to know to make this year a success for your child. Of course if you ever need to contact me please do not hesitate to do so.

    Grade Scale:

    A: 93-100

    B: 85-92

    C: 77-84

    N: 76 and below

I am very excited to be teaching your child this year, and I look forward to a year of learning and fun!

    Sincerely,

    Leta Whitley
