We have had a great start. We are currently working on creating routines, what our expectations

are for one another, and learning to follow the Warrior Way.

Homework Reminders

Reading Response

Your child needs to read every night. Our Reading Response is focused on helping

the students think as they read. It will give them purpose for reading. The Reading Response

is also designed to help your child with their handwriting, their sentence structure and their

spelling. Please be sure to encourage your child to work on these skills while they are doing

their homework. What we practice is what we become. The requirements at the current time

is to complete at least 3 responses a week. If your child is an excited reader encourage them

to read more. They will receive a certificate card and a treat for every 10 completed response.

We also have a reading race wall in our room that will keep track of every ten books your child

reads. They will be moving their "race cars" up to each new trophy cup. The goal is to hit the

big "100 Cup"! Don't forget that modeling reading for your child is a great reinforcement tool.

Think about maybe having a silent reading time where the whole family engages in reading a book

of their choice. Just a thought. Keep reading!!
